Sustainable Sourcing and Agroecology
Farinart’s Sustainable Sourcing project aims to structure the implementation of a responsible sourcing program within the company.
It includes training internal teams and deploying environmental monitoring tools adapted to Quebec agricultural suppliers. These efforts support the integration of regenerative agricultural practices within the supply chain.
OBJECTIVES
The project includes:
- Conducting a needs assessment and strategic planning process.
- Developing a training toolkit adapted to Quebec agricultural realities and recognized practices.
- Training internal teams.
- Deploying a simplified MRV system (Measurement, Reporting, Verification) to measure environmental benefits among agricultural suppliers.
- Developing a scaling plan.
“Grains vivants” Agroecological Practices Cohort
The “Grains vivants” (Living Grains) Agroecological Practices Cohort supports producers in Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec in the concrete integration of agroecological practices adapted to their production contexts.
OBJECTIVES
- Integrate agroecological practices adapted to the realities of participating farms
- Discover and use tools to measure biophysical impacts on soil (carbon, root biomass, soil microbial life)
- Evaluate production costs associated with implemented practices
- Structure data collection and its integration into MRV (Measurement, Reporting, Verification) tools
- Establish relationships with buyers within a value chain logic
Our projects are also made possible thanks to the support of the McCall MacBain Foundation, the Peter Gilgan Foundation, the RBC Foundation, the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), The Co-operators and other anonymous funders.
